Atheism isn't maturity.
Neither is spiritualism.
And certainly not religiosity.

You know where true maturity lies?
In a space somehow between atheism and irreligious spiritualism, that in the end is neither of the two.
Maturity is syncretism of atheism and irreligious spiritualism without being like either precisely, and with rejection of religions, but at the same time respect for them.

Maturity is acceptance of one's own mortality without resorting to spooks. Atheism is a spook in itself, cf. DFW "This is Water" ("we all worship"). That was an insightful and efficiently stated truth, but atheism, irreligious spiritualism and religiosity aren't the only options. There's also simple contentment with life, treating it as an amazing experience, a lightning of consciousness in a bottle of nothingness, and that mortality doesn't harm this experience in any way, in fact, it makes it all the more special.

You don't need to worship to accept your own mortality. And once you do, you're king of all domains.
