Pretty much yeah. Live with your parents and save money until you have a job that pays well enough that you can move out (preferably with someone) and still save a good amount of money. A fairly large chunk of those 70% in the United States that live paycheck-to-paycheck do so of their own volition. If you can't stay with parents or relations from the get go things would be monumentally more difficult though yeah. Funny thing is nobody is born out of the ground though.

And I should add among other good critiques is the one that Rawls' argument potentially further justifies the complete commercialization of all aspects of life, in pursuit of individual self-interest, and the implications of what this actually looks like (ie the totalitarian welfare state). In other words, tradition, norms, and conventions, perhaps except of the most basic kind, may not have a place at all in the Rawlsian state.

Minimalist. I don't really care about people punching each other, swords clashing, and guns being shot. A paragraph or two ought to suffice. I'm more interested more in characters and plot.

Recommend me a novel. I just finished Growth of the Soil (fantastic) and would now prefer something faster paced and not in translation.

In order to obtain x you have to do y, but you can't do y. Other people have x, and they don't have to do y. For some people it is very easy to do y, but for others it is very difficult to do y. Do you deserve x? If you could do y, would you? Should you? Why can't you do z instead? What if people need z more than y? If people need z more than y, then why do people who do y get x and people who do z don't? Why do people value y more than z? If people need z more then they need y shouldn't we value z more? If z should be valued more than y, then should we force society to give x to people who do z? If this means we have to take away x from people who do y in order to give to people who do z, should we? If somebody has x but does neither y or z, should we take x from them before we take it from people who do y?

I run my shop. Mother buy ice cream cone. Child spill, say "mommy i drop my cone." Mother says, "give new ice cream." I say no.
What does the great literature says about this moral dilemma?

Should I read Beyond Good and Evil before or after Genealogy? I understood the first essay of Genealogy pretty well but I’m struggling with the second one. Haven’t read any other Neechee so far.
