OK /lit/, all bullcrap aside, is this legitimately a good, worthy read? Or is it just bad? btw, I've never seen the film adaptation either.

Why this shit sold 36 millions of copies?
I can't understand.

I usually avoid best sellers becuse, well I have a hunge list of books to read and best sellers these days are quite mediocre as best but I dunno, I wanted some nice post apocalyptic sci-fi book and I found this.
I think it may be the worst thing I've ever read. Her descriptions, her characters, her writing style... everything is so poor it makes me mad. This shit may be fine for a film but in book form is just painful.
Why would 36 millions of people -16 just in america- buy this stuff I can't figure out.

Im not sure how well /lit/ will react to this, but here it goes.

I recently finished reading The Hunger Games series, after enjoying the movie and now im craving something that is comparable with the series.

By that I mean a good series preferably with the same style as the Hunger Games. I am OK with reading "Young Adult" series, as long as they are well-written

I cant even tell you what I liked so much about The Hunger Games, maybe I just felt bad for Katniss, so I guess a MC that attracts pity like that might be good.

I know its extremely vague, but im having trouble putting thoughts into words, I will try and post more helpful stuff later on.

Why are adults all excited over a kids book? Is this how retarded America has become?

I think how positive my review of the trilogy may come across is strongly influenced how reticent I was to read it at all.

I don't normally take notice of YA, but it was media hub bub that drew my attention to it. In some literary circles, I kept running into the idea that it was another vapid pop-inheritor to Twilight.

So imagine how pleased I am that something like Twilight hasn't happened.

Beyond the almost imperceptible use of a common trope or two, the author has earned my respect for creating a story with a genuinely strong, entirely human female protagonist - and the dominant anti-capitalist, PTSD-ridden, hyper violent critique of the United States makes me question whether this really belongs in a Young Adult category at all.

Worth Reading, 4/5.

I can't be the only person in the world to think this book was mediocre at best. I know I'm not the target audience for the book (young adult, female), but good books should be universally liked. The premise is good, but it the execution is poor. All of the characters lacked depth and the main character is an unrelatable cunt. How can I accept a society that is capable of flying hovercrafts and genetic manipulation to still be reliant on a medieval coal town?

So, have you read it? It is just fine but why is everybody so excited about it? Just another book about the good rebels VS the evil government

Just finished the first book and holy shit was it terrible.

The plot was trite and overdone and all of the characters were unlikable, lacking any sort of depth or development.

Seriously, what is there to like about this book?

I read this book and it was pretty good and i'm curious about the sequels. The idea seems cool and all but it seems to be careening towards teeny bullshit and stepheny myers commented on it. Is "catching fire" any good

hey /lit/ i need help finding a book!
I don't remember much about it, other than it was set in the future, and there was a game show were you could volunteer and try to hide from the cops. It was kind of like a game of manhunt, only you would actually be killed if they caught you. They replace your eye with a camera and you have to mail in a video every so often.
Does anyone know what book i'm talking about?
I hope so i've been looking for days!
pic related, it's what i'm about to start reading!
