I know it's supposed to be the best one but Titus Groan was just so much more interesting imo

I just finished reading Titus Groan, and I really loved it. Should I read Gormenghast right away? Is it also worth it to go for Titus Alone? I've heard that Gormenghast is great, while Titus Alone is more like insane ramblings that don't have much to do with the previous two novels. Is that true?

You guys didn't tell me this was a comedy.

Once and Future King and Gormenghast are S tier. Perdido Steet Station is better than The Scar.

Replace Dune with pic, or something from Jack Vance.

I just finished this, and while it took a while to get into I have to say it was very original in its characters, descriptions and dialogue.

What books have you read that seem to stand out in terms of originality?

Started yesterday, it's been great so far. Had somehow never heard of it until I saw anon post it in a thread last week.

Well, this one was weird. There is no actual fantasy in it, other than the uncanny size of the castle, perhaps? Prose is great, characterization is good but there is little to no plot and what there is moves so slowly that by the end I was fairly bored. Don't know if I will even read the sequels, maybe if I'm ever in the mood for very lenghty descriptions and a lot of characters acting in a very theatrical way.

One thing I thought while reading the book is that it would make a good material for a Wes Anderson film. The aristocratic but decadent setting with a lot of meaningless rituals and idiossincratic characters that he loves are all there.

Are these books good
