>Myrefly is a character-focused series spanning multiple genres, primarily sci-fi and fantasy, revolving around themes of divine hubris, and the often cataclysmic consequences of achieving godhood as an individual or civilization. The characters traverse a multiverse, called the Cosmic Tapestry, where their Alias alter-egos live differing lives. A character you loved can just as easily become one you despise. Nothing is what it seems. Everyone has a goal… New alliances! Heart-wrenching betrayals! Heroes straying from their righteous path! Villains finding redemption! The only consistency is that characters in Myrefly will cross one another’s paths, again and again, across the myriad permutations of their collective existence.

Author here! I made a piracy thread to let you enjoy Myrefly for free. Literary discussions welcome.

Book 1 (Vol 1, Part 1 of 5) takes place on a fantasy world called Grexia. Some parts of it are primitive, others technologically advanced. There are humans and demi-human beast people on this world with varying relationships. Some regions tolerate each other, others face sharp discrimination. Grexia is a world home to dozens of skyscraper-sized trees, called Canopies. It's believed these giant plants are protecting them from certain doom, but as centuries pass, most consider these claims unfounded legends.

Grexia is facing an energy crisis, and their Pandeska family rulers are deciding which regions to sacrifice. The village of Canopy Starfall, home to a few hundred people, is using the same energy as Canopy Gold Leaf, a town dozens of times larger than it. Their politicians debate the ethical dilemma on if it's more important to favor the many over the few.

Layka Epiphany, the titular demi-human faun, is in love with a human linguist named Casid. Layka doesn't want to run her family business long-term, she would rather unravel the secrets of the universe with Casid. However, this would force her brother to run the shop on his own, and she risks being exiled from her family. Her brother hates humans, further complicating her relationship with Casid.
