I've definitely been there but I don't I've felt that bad in 15 years. I have gotta so cynical that it made me cringe. It's like I can't dwell on anything without laughing at myself for it. I think my stories might come off way more suicidal than I intend, but I guess that is just my voice.

Act II in the Sound in the Fury.
It's a wild, wild ride. It felt like my heart had knives in it from all the secondhand guilt. Poor Quentin was so hard on himself.

I listen to nocturnes, especially fond of Chopin.

I've grown jaded in some ways. I let feelings that I've had or currently have split between a lot of characters in my story. There are some other techniques you can do to stay honest. It's not exhaustive but here are things I recommend:
>give POV to other characters to build sympathy for alternate views with the reader, especially when that character is suffering
>Concessions when presenting your feelings
>Enthymeme to nudge reader to make their own conclusion
>Parallelisms to compare and contrast
>Procatalepsis to build trust with the readers
>Verbal Irony so you can show bitterness more indirectly
>use High Wit including conceits, metaphors, and arguments. Gives the appearance of appreciation when you're actually disparaging
>avoid Low Wit: wordplay, oxymoron, pun, paradox
>avoid using negative Parrhesia if you dont want to come off as zealous
Also, remember that writing isn't only sharing your feelings, it's exploring it. Don't think of it as being disingenuous if you use literary devices to not come off as jaded. We are more complex than that and you're free to change how you feel in the course of writing.

You can write Hard SF without being a scientist, but you will need to be close friends with several scientists who are willing to alpha read to make sure you are getting your story correctly. If your story doesn't heavily depend on the science being write, reading on your own will work most of the time. You still need to gain trust with the reader. One technique is to be detailed about a little fact so that you build trust with the reader. Then give them a "big lie" to swallow and don't even explain how it works. They will usually accept it especially if its concerning a fictional concept. You need to be careful about hand-waving real facts though, because if your story gets into economics and your economics are totally wrong you won't fool an economist. There are lots of educated readers out there, so be aware of what kinds of education your story depends on.
