A beautiful young man, from a somewhat poor family, obsesses over aestheticism and the Great Man theory of history.
He believes that beauty shall reign supreme, that aesthetics are over ethics, and that Great Men are over these too, and that their mission is to lead the world towards an "aesthetic paradise". Admires men like D'Annunzio or Mishima, who turned their lives into art. He fears old age, and fears dying without having achieved anything important in his life, something that, in his view, would turn the world into a more beautiful place. His socioeconomic status doesn't help him at all, doesn't have any contacts, is unemployed, and even if he is inteligent, he hasn't achieved much yet.
I haven't worked it that much yet, but it ends more or less like Runaway Horses.

It is undeniable that the plot of Hopscotch changes depending on the order you read it, Cortazar himself admitted that that was his idea when he wrote the novel. If the plot is content, and it changes in this novel, then the contents changes too.
