If I had never been terminally online since 2015 and had never been indoctrinated, I would probably be dating an average East Asian woman right now, still only listening to DnB, "chillstep" or shoegaze. I would probably still be drinking energy drinks regularly. I would probably only watch popular anime, no real art. Would still be a VSauce fan, but would be too lazy to deal with science in depth. I would do some creative stuff now and then, some animations but that's it. I probably would have become something like a mediocre storm/rain photographer. Mainly my job, low T GF and riding my bike in nature. No intellectual challenge, almost no politics.
Without all the context, I would be pissed, shocked and triggered by people like 4chan users. A discussion would fail right from the start. I would be too averse and the others too blindly aggressive and stupidly proud.
Since realizing that, I've been less cynical in my interactions with redditors. If you've never been challenged, if you've never been pulled out of mediocrity, you're not automatically inherently mediocre.
