You can't observe logic.
I can't observe the #4.
I also can't observe your mind or other metaphysical things.

You're right, to progress through one of these charts, you'd have to be doing as much reading as you would for a typical undergraduate degree. That's some serious reading, and we all know that nobody who posts here is a serious reader.

What's the point of reading, if not to harvest knowledge, when you're a hedonist and derive all purposefullness from superfluous things

So a few weeks ago, we had a thread about trying to find a definition for art. Here's my take:
>Something created by a human with the purpose of eliciting an emotional response. That something must possess complexity an order of magnitude above mundane communication means, and that complexity is often, though not necessarily, self-evident.
The second part, I think, reunits the expression with the technē, and explains why the whole "muh modern art is not art" is a thing: where previous art was obviously complex on a craftmanship level, modern art is often simple in its execution ("a child could have done that-syndrom"), but its complexity is conceptual. It is far more spontaneous to be impressed and interested in a piece that is obviously something one could not have done.
What do you faggots think?

Have any of you read much into theory?
What are some good books that maybe take a philosophical approach to literature?

I know that a lot of theory can be ideological, but surely there is something of merit there. I've read some short introductions to theory, but I'm unsure where to start reading actual theory.

I want to start writing because I feel like I can overcome some of my insecurities by putting them into words and on paper. I'm an engineering student so I have no idea on where to start. I've always read alot, mostly philosophical essays and literature. No fantasy or anything like that. What would you recommend I start with? Should I just write long and extensive ideas I've developed or try to create stories?

Society doesn't prohibit against bad taste, and it's all the better for us. The lower the people are, the easier it is for you to create an ever widening gap between you and them.

>but recently these 'spooks' have begun to creep up on me.
Sometimes I get a light touch of the spooks too but then I visualise what it would be like to actually live a normie life based on them. I imagine the series of alarm clock awakenings, the rushed morning shit, the commute, the mandatory socialising with people only put in your vicinity by economical pragmatism, dragging yourself along to more obligations on the weekend et cetera, imagining the days and weeks and months and years of this with no end in sight, and all this torture in the service of some arbitrary idea more elusive than the last ephemeral wisp of cigar smoke at Hippel's wine bar after closing while you could just be enjoying yourself as you please, unbothered by obligation and ordeal.

It's simply not worth the bother unless you're a firm believer, and anyone who has read enough can never really be a firm believer again, having been exposed to too many contradictory viewpoints to ever fully accept one of them unsceptically.

Actually, switch out Justified with I, Claudius.

5 and 9 are very good.
Julius Caesar is probably the weakest of the Histories, but has some excellent parts.

If you edit off season 5, BB is quite great.

Haven't seen How to Train Your Dragon, but I've heard it's very well done.

Good attempt at a memepost, but it's actually quite a decent list.
