very quietly devastating. The ending didn't necessarily hurt in an impactful way, but still carried a lot of emotional weight. it was a very quiet and unassuming character study but I still think about it often. almost nothing at all happens but somehow the pacing works in an effective and emotive way. Skylark isn't an iconic character in the literary or academic sense, but in the memory of the reader I think she leaves a very unique and lasting impression. also the story was just cozy as fuck
