...where should I start? I have some notions, but want to hear it from the poetry experts on /lit/ (if there are any).

You can't have elitism without lit.

Pic related.

The last book I have left to read by DFW (fiction, anyway), and this is just plain weird. Some short stories are more micro-fiction, being a page or 2 long, and some of them do nothing AT ALL. I like postmodernism, but this is really weird. Thoughts on it?

There's a white American character called (I think) Robery Chidan. He runs the antiques shop, and interracts with the Japanese people in the area. What I don't understand is this: why does he speak broken English? If he's white American, and lived before the war, he would speak English as his first language. I never got this, could someone please explain it to me? Thanks.

This board is good (sort of), but needs more discussion of books. It's still better than some of the literary boards I've been to.
