>be teenager me
>kissless virgin, never had a girlfriend before
>manage to get practice gf during senior year
>not really attracted to her that much
>stumble upon OP's book
>decide to practice its techniques on her
>she falls madly in love with me
>literally calls me/texts me every hour, every day
>eventually break up with her
>threatens to kill herself, doesn't go through with it
>keeps calling my house and hanging up, sends me anonymous texts to this very day

This books is like Sociopathy 101

Imo, all the techniques he discuss are, at least to some extent, legit, but they'll only work under the right conditions: people who are very self-reliant, unattached or not attracted to you at all aren't good targets, so they simply won't work at all.

he's entirely self-aware of his lack of critical abilities and intimacy with literature and makes that clear from the get-go.

I don't see a problem with bad book reviews if they're genuine and come from a place of humbleness. It's just some guy trying to articulate his thoughts on the latest book he has read: he's not pretending to have any serious insights into the material
