Why not? If a difference exists then it should be known. How can you care for or write legislation for a group of people if you don't know their strengths and weaknesses?

An education opens doors for you if nothing else. Could you sit on your ass 15 hours a day learning C++ and succeed? Yeah, probably, but colleges provide structured curriculums that job makers approve of. If you have a bachelor's they're going to hire you because the degree is an assurance that you have at least a modicum of knowledge about a field.

Just because loans are bad doesn't mean getting an education isn't a better decision for 90% of people. The problem is taking out loans for shit degrees. Anyone taking out a loan who is pre-law, pre-med, or has a high paying job lined up when they graduate is making the right decision. You cannot refute this. Unless you have some talent that is making you good money ALREADY or a skill that has earned you clout in a field already, then nobody will pay you for your stupid hobby.
