I am astounded that the average person is either so self-centered or so stupid they think no one will be bothered by their obnoxious behavior in public. My annoyance was mitigated slightly by the engine noise but it still enraged me and I had a lot of difficulty focusing on my book. Can someone please tell me how to tune noise out while reading?

Also maybe recommend me some literature about the erosion of common decency in polite society.
