I don't think we are "1000 times happier", because it seems like you are partially right in that we adapt. But you can't assume that it perfectly equalizes
There's just no way. These people had extra children because most of their children died young
Idk about you, but I'd rather not spend my whole life coughing from pneumonia and then dying at age 29 just to be in a "simpler time" without social media. Classic case of first world problems
