I particularly like how much this one reminds me of Kid A'salbum artwork.

Too much memes for comfort round here right now, hopefully this thread sparks some original discussion.

Have any of you ever tried an experimental method of writing? I'be been reading a lot lately about surrealist automation techniques and I've decided I'm going to try something out in a few days when I have time to try and produce the most organic stream-of-consciousness prose I can. I've been floating around with an idea in my head for months now, about a boy who is reincarnated but remembers his past life and designs a magic radio to contact his past love with which he can play music to her across time but then she breaks it and the majority of the story is her trying to fix the radio while he obliviously declares his love across the boundaries of space and time. It's sort of been helped to take shape by the new Joanna Newsom album. Anyhow, this has been a vague idea rocking around the recesses of my mind since the summer but it hasn't developed into anything concrete, so I'm currently looking for artists who sing but it's not easy to discern what their lyrics are, and then I'll listen and try to write down what I'm hearing with the story in mind. My general theory is that it's already gestated into some viable shape or form, I just need to access it by tapping into my subconscious. If all else fails it will hopefully give me some dreamlike prose. But enough about me, what about you? How did your experiments go? Care to share?

On a separate but interesting note - has anyone hear ever tried writing a musical? Because I've also been toying with the idea of turning the above story into a musical.
