well yeah, just like a regular scanner. it basically takes a picture of a flat surface, for instance the page of a book, and stores it into a sd card. and as books are only black/white you dont even need high def.

i also had my doubts but decided to give it a try and it was the best thing ever, i have a huge library in my pc and its cost was only the library fee subscription, plus some chep chinese scanner from ebay.
