Corbin embraced Schelling’ notion of “Tautegory” as a resolution of the false dichotomy between matter and spirit, history or myth. In his essay, “The Imago Templi in confrontation with Secular Norms,” Corbin notes:
The Imago Templi is not allegorical but “tautegorical”; that is to say, it should not be understood as concealing the Other whose form it is. It is to be understood in its identity with that Other, and as being itself the thing which it expresses. It will thus be clear that we do not intend to take up the task of the psychologists, still less to subject the Imago Templi to the categories of positive historical criticism. The symbol bears within it its own meaning and its own revelation, the locus of the Deus revelatus. It is the form, the theophany, of that with which it symbolizes, the transcendent reality, in the Imaginal World.

As others have said I got roughly 100+ pages into it before calling it quits due to general mental exhaustion/laziness. What got me to finally drop it is realizing that to truly understand the book I would have to re-read it to mentally connect the dots of all the things I missed the first time through, and seeing as I have ADHD even one read through would be a considerable challenge for me. What's funny is that after I got pleb filtered I went straight to the easiest thing I could read from my collection which was the Hobbit, and compared to how hard to read IJ can be at times I blew through the Hobbit in a leisurely literary stroll that let me sit back and enjoy the story rather than having to worry about what every single word and punctuation Mark may symbolize in terms of subtext. Call me a pleb but it was /comfy/ as fuck
