What are /lit/'s thoughts on this?

Just started this and reads uncannily close to a continuation of 'Notes From Underground' written by a less handy writer. Is this how this is going to be then?

Have any of you read Knut Hamsun? Had to read 4 novels by him for a class this quarter, figured I would ask around for people's thoughts. Such bizarre protagonists. Pic related; his most popular novel

I'm looking for a word, /lit/.

Specifically an adjective to describe people like the protagonist of this book.

People that are comically arrogant, who act aloof in all situations and rely on petty insults and back handed comments when dealing with others. People utterly unable to laugh at themselves.

Can this sort of behavior be distilled to one word? I see "fedora" and "euphoric" tossed around /lit/ specifically, but those are too wishy-washy to really describe what I'm thinking of.

Just finished that myself yesterday, moved onto Hunger. It's a down-and-out novel, one of those about a poor + starving writer.

My first foray into Norwegian lit. Is it a good choice?

Maybe it was because i read both of them within a few weeks of each other, but i found them very similar.

I have three books that I have started, please instruct me as to which order I should read them in.

-The Exile and The Kingdom by Albert Camus
-Hunger by Knut Hamsun
-Pnin by Vladimir Nabokov

is this any good, /lit/? thinking of reading it next.
