Every once in a while I spend a chunk of time browsing AO3 to see what the ladies are schlicking to. The more disgusting the more interesting. Recently skimmed one about a poor fellow tied up who had another guy start licking his eyeball, then cutting it open with a scalpel, proceed to suck the fluid out and tongue the inside of the eye, and finally chomp down on the optic nerve with his teeth. Licking your finger to turn a page is a disgusting act on par with eating with your mouth open. It is something I’ve only witnessed older generations do and it makes me physically, mentally, and spiritually sick. There is no reason for it as a page can always be turned without tonguing your smelly fingers, you utter arse wipe. Is anyone else tortured by the presence of finger lickers? I definitely agree with not doing something simply out of pride, especially considering how if the book is rushed then it’s not a big compliment to your pride in the long run. But frankly I wouldn’t want to leave my manuscripts in a drawer forever. I really relate to what he’s saying about a mediocre book is better than a book that doesn’t exist; can’t really talk about the quality of your work when your work has never been seen by anybody. Is something unreleased even able to be perfect without outside confirmation that it’s at least decent?

I wish I was asexual. I've been fapping a lot lately and the urge to do so is just annoying at this point. Whenever I finish, I feel relief that I can start thinking normal, non-sexual thoughts again (at least for a little while). The few times I've had sex, I look at the woman next to me with a kind of disgust, honestly. It's not even that she's ugly I just want to be alone and live my life now which her presence directly obstructs because I don't have the heart to just leave or to tell her to fuck off (but also she is kind of ugly now).

Is it doable in this day and age? I look at writers like Elena Ferrante who managed this, yet had some journalist track money from her publisher to her to find out her true identity. What if I don't want have attention? This culture we live in is putting some serious stress on artists, even to the point where things they create are scrutinized beyond belief, and that fiction doesn't exist anymore.
Is it possible to completely skirt the whole media game altogether? I want to write, I want to be published, but I don't want to deal with the hoards of philistines.
