When somebody disagrees with someone on 4chan, the default is never a discussion, it's always a hostile act of aggression. The ensuing confrontation never really rises above the "cope and seethe" level, where both parties have fit the other into some micro-archetype and mentally autocomplete everything the other party might say. The goal is never to learn or explain anything, it's to win and totally crush and humiliate the other

It's really just 'former gifted kids' who don't really have a lot going on looking to categorize others into easily "refuted" boxes, where they can play out a scripted encounter (in that the argument has been played out hundreds of times before and both parties know what the other will say before they say it) where the aim is to feel like your ideological fashion choice came out on top. These people are here for hours and hours of a day and don't really read, they only associate authors with a position in the metaculture and by way of associating with other metagroups (if that makes sense) that's mostly learned by osmosis online than by any actual engagement with the literary world.
