My goal is to read a lot, but not so much that I become similar to Daddy Bloom. Every time he speaks I just feel like that he's a generally negative person with far less passion than his work would lead us to believe. Anyone who doesn't think young people should read On the Road shouldn't be in charge of the canon, in my humble opine.

I'm sorry OP but your question is kind of retarded, anyone who is writing a novel needs to have a grand and sincere vision and falling into cliches isn't just going to happen. Nothing is off limits
