I remember reading pic related poem a while back and being extremely emotionally engaged with it right away. The "Yes YES" part especially, never before was I so struck with mere text, it spoke to me on a deep level almost as if it has unlocked some new neuron pathways in my brain. I loved it with the very core of my being.
And today, I feel nothing. Today, it's just some text on paper to me. Zero emotions whatsoever.

Is this called growing up or am I broken now?

I woke up wanting to read poems, but I don't know where to start, I have never read poems before either. Anything is welcome

Why do you think the film is superior in that scenario? Genuine question. Books and film are my two greatest if not only loves in life and I have had this debate with myself so many times

Alright lit, I know that contemporary poetry for the most part sucks but I think there must be some good shit out there. I propose that we have take in upon ourselves to seek out some good content so we can propagate that content here. There's enough academics and intelligent people here that by meme-ing an (good) author enough, it could cause them to pick up real world traction (as not many people even read contemporary poetry).

So, I think it would be fun if we all participate in a scavenger hunt and bring back a poem (with url) written by a poet born after 1970, who is preferably still alive.
I think the easiest way to do this is to search through random poets on Poetry Foundation's website.

I'll start by posting a few that I already like. If this goes well, we could even make a chart for it.
