Hello, I'm looking for a children's book I used to love back in the day.

I remember there being at least two books.
They were about adventures of a large group of dwarfs/gnomes. I think they all dressed the same, had white beards.
One of the books had them construct a large dirigible and fly to some far away country. I also think they navigated a spooky labyrinth.

Now, the most interesting thing about them were the detailed illustrations. Hand drawn and full of curious details, I would spend hours just examining them. For example, one of the illustrations showed a cross-section of the aforementioned dirigible; the other portrayed the labyrinth.

These books can't be older than 1980s or so. Maybe late 90s.

The illustrations looked similar to pic related, but I don't think they were Wil Huygen's books.

I'd appreciate any input. I have a son of my own now, and I'd love to get these books for him.

This is hands down the cosiest thing ever conceived. Triggered a pretty pathological obsession with gnomes for me.
