So I just read this and it's tedious as fuck. why is it so widely regarded even though it's vastly inferior to the likes of 1984 or We? Did I just miss out by not reading it in High School?

I've started looking into reading more works of literature and not just entertaining novels like the stuff that gets turned into Hollywood blockbusters. So far I've read Slaughterhouse-Five and Fahrenheit 451. Wow. Real eye openers. Only thing is, do you think this kind of stuff can way on a person? I find I spend a lot of time dwelling on things beyond my control or understanding, and I wonder if reading things like this will be good for me or make my mind obsess even more.

I just read pic relatedfor the first time and was thoroughly disappointed. It seems like he was just shitting out adjectives. Is this what purple prose is?

What are the best dystopian novels?
Gonna crack this open in a bit, and I got 1984 on my shelf.

I don't read much but I want to get started now.

Dystopian literature is shit written by edge lords who feel threatened by free speech.

I understand it coming from actually oppressive regimes like the Nazis, but anyone writing dystopian literature from open Western societies is a degenerate, Looking at Ray Bradbury.
