I guess the problem is: if you're somewhat artistic or like reading and writing and want to make it in publishing; or if you're political and passionate and want a government job, or in the third sector; if you have an education and a high verbal iq and don't particularly like breathing particulates all day while enduring shitty banter (and I've been there), then you're somewhat screwed when everything has been taken over by this nonsense. The academic climate was profoundly different just a few short decades ago. I don't want to work in a daycare for vapid females; I want to write non-fiction while lecturing, or complete my own projects while clerking in some non-descript office (as did Thomas Bulfinch when he wrote his Mythology), and because that kind of life was plausible and probable so recently, it stings to exist at a time where it isn't.

I understand stoicism is in order, and we have to buckle up and knuckle down and deal with the world as it is, not as we want it to be. But I think a lot of people on this board are in a similar situation, and they're to trying to process these frustrations -- and part of that is airing them.
