>Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

After interacting with engineering students at university, I can safely say that science = sóyence. I’m sorry I ever made fun of humanities, literature etc.

McCarthy was a hack
>McCarthy had an aversion to other writers, preferring the company of scientists. He voiced his admiration for scientific advances: "What physicists did in the 20th century was one of the extraordinary flowerings ever in the human enterprise."At MacArthur reunions, McCarthy shunned his fellow writers to fraternize instead with scientists like physicist Murray Gell-Mann and whale biologist Roger Payne. Of all of his interests, McCarthy stated, "Writing is way, way down at the bottom of the list."

I don't know about Dante posters but online athiests are exceptionally cringe because they're following a fad from a decade ago.

>I think my path worked out pretty well. In undergrad I did agricultural and environmental sciences. Got a job and some work experience. Still really interested in policy and the humanities. So I'm getting a masters in it to help pivot to that side. I get to skip the freshman lit classes and read grown-up theory, and can take practical classes to merge the science and theory together. So would recommend double-majoring in something easily monetizable that you find interesting and figuring out ways to merge the two usefully.

Reminder that the big bang hypothesis relies on pure faith in some obscure "dark energy" and also cant go beyond the big bang itself, its no better than god made everything just because.
