How would one know their writing is on par with that of the greats?

Could you guys recommend any books that are about esoteric religious and occult concepts? Bonus points if they are word salads. I love a good word salad especially if they are political in nature. Esoteric and self-contradictory symbolism would also be cool.

My comprehension has dropped after years of reading shitposts on forums and boards.

What are some meta books to understand complex writing? Is a dictionary and high school education sufficient enough for a brainlet to understand the hardest writing? Will those ENGL 101 reference books and perseverance get me through? I'm coming from a coding background so I'm kinda into the linguistics.

How often do you read academic secondary literature on an author/book? Do you find it worthwhile?

Every time I return to reading this book I fall more in love with it. Why do you like or dislike it /lit/?

I see a lot more talk of Ulysses or Dubliner than I do about FW, what's the explanation for that? And, I have no idea what my pic means.

Going to start reading Finnegan's Wake soon.

You're kinda setting a false dichotomy there. You don't necessarily need to read for "pleasure", you can approach fiction as an educative text as well; not only can you take the story itself at face value and try to learn as much as you can about it, but also learn about the author, the historical context of the book, the techniques used, etc. You should try to enjoy things your own way, not in whatever manner you think you ought to.
