A few years ago I got a book from my brother, "Practical Demonkeeping" by Christopher Moore. He said he picked it up because the title had him giggling on the spot. Once I finished it I went to the bookstore and picked up about three more Moore books
Moore writes fantasy/humor, I can't pass more than two pages without laughing like an idiot, it's embarrassing if there's people around you. "What's so funny?" "Oh, just this book." His plots usually involve an everyman being thrown into a supernatural situation.
Examples: a boy working graveyard shift at a grocery store is recruited to be a vampire's minion. A fisherman is chosen by a genie to banish a demon from the earth. A second-hand store owner must start selling people's souls.
Last few weeks life has been coming down on me like a vise clamp and I decided to reread all of the Moore books I own. I couldn't have made a better decision. I owe this glorious madman big time.
If you haven't read something of his, I'd recommend the living shit out of him.
