Before They Are Hanged (The First Law #2) - Joe Abercrombie (2007)
Where do I begin? I sucked my gums and tounged the space behind my two front teeth.
Think you can write fantasy and escape Tolkien's influence? You've got to be realistic about these things.
I have many talents, but writing consistently serious reviews is not one of them.
And so the chosen band of adventures, a mighty wizard who is he more than appears, a hobbit, and three warriors spend much of the book journeying and on their way pass through Mordor which is filled with orcs in search of the One Stone to rule them all.
Elsewhere Cripplesworth The Superior is at a city pretending to be Constantinople.
Meanwhile Joffrey leads his troops into the fray.
Say one thing for Joe Abercrombie. Say he likes stock phrases. You can never have enough forced memes. Ssss.
I've finished this review and I'm still alive.
Rating: 4/5, because it's basically one continuous story anyway, so by the transitive property it's still a 4.
