You'll only find books on that broad a subject written for political purposes. Nothing objectively truthful.

It basically goes like this:
>poor people were evil and unhappy. then they became civilized by this great idea: [insert new ideology here]. poor people now must become cucks and atone for their evil sins. be a good cuck and work for my system of government. Don't think about your own needs, egoism is a sin - this is the only way to be morally good my dear cuck.

just finished the first chapter and I'm genuinely interested in reading further. what is /lit/'s opinion?

I keep hearing this mentioned by coworkers lately, and in tweets from people I know through some degrees of separation. Seems like a meme book.

I've already read A Short History of Nearly Everything, is this worth reading too? The seqel, Homo Deus, sounds more interesting desu.
