pic related is Schuon criticizing him

>my principles are the only means of avoiding the transcendental illusion by which metaphysics has always been deceived and thereby tempted into the childish endeavor of chasing after soap bubbles, because appearances, which after all are mere representations, were taken for things in themselves ... that appearance, as long as it is used in experience, brings forth truth, but as soon as it passes beyond the boundaries of experience and becomes transcendent, brings forth nothing but sheer illusion.

'i.e. because appearances are not the absolute reality in themselves I will retardedly conclude through a incorrect extension of that principle that there no exists no possibility whatsoever of knowing the absolute reality itself and the only way to truly know things is from an inferior form of knowedle (logic) combined with the most basic sensory date'

In his misguided drive to establish the exact limits and the nature of perception and intellect he essentially trapped himself in a box and destroyed any possibility of reaching higher knowledge. As Guenon notes Kant's main ideas are basically substituting a 'theory of knowledge' for knowledge itself. There is an absolute Knowledge which Kant never came close to understanding. This is the Absolute, knowledge of reality itself as it is. To know this reality is to immediately experience it as true, it is not considering something from a passive and outside perspective using a 'theory' but directly experiencing truth itself. True intellect is the means by which we come to understand this, it is an immediate, direct and intuitive understanding where there is no distinction between knowing and being, no distinction between subject and object, to know Brahman is to be Brahman. This type of understanding is not limited to Advaita but is also found in other eastern doctrines as well as in Neoplatonism.

>Reason functions by the light of the Intellect, but Kantian critical philosophy in striving to reach an integral relativism—which is “a contradiction in itself and thus a pure absurdity”—becomes a play of mirrors that throws everything into subjective doubt and leads inevitably to existentialism. These
philosophers in their “arrogant unconsciousness” would “kill with their petty vitriolic thoughts” the “great spokesmen of metaphysics”. It totally escapes their atrophied imagination that logic “is perfectly consistent only when exceeding itself”. Integral rationalism in its turn is a consequence of the tendency in Aristotelian metaphysics—unlike that of Plato and Plotinus— towards exteriorization; “the Aristotelian Pandora’s box is scientism coupled with sensationalism”. The mischief comes from the Church’s having lent an interested ear—a factor favoring the development of the Renaissance mentality.

Some examples of Shuon's points, the chapter is longer than this. Really the whole book deals at length with how modern philosophy is incredibly blinkered when it comes to understanding genuinely transcendent knowledge.
