Based, Bible is God-tier comfy reading. I learned to read sitting on my dad's lap with him pointing to each word in a psalm and helping me pronounce them.

I wish I could do graduate-level biblical studies but I have an unfinished BSc I need to tidy up first. If you're interested in biblical manuscripts and textual criticism there's been some really neat developments in the last decades and it has overall given me a deeper appreciation of the book we hold in our hands.

Well of course. Why would you tell the story otherwise? It doesn't generally say what he had for breakfast, or that he scratched his left ear or whatever, because those things are not meaningful beyond themselves. They may have happened, but we don't care that they do.
The story distills the meaning, it is framed by the narrative, selected by the narrative.
Nevertheless to say that "this never happened and it's just a cool made up story" is heresy and someone saying that is anathema desu
