That is part of how my first project began. Try to get at the reason you are so interested in it. It doesn't have to be the ultimate message or core of the story necessarily but start at least from something you can crystallize off of. You get used to the idea of creativity, and I learned a lot of it by engaging in deconstruction of stories I liked (without knowing exactly how the author had gone about conceiving it) and then applying a similar process to my own story going forward. Take American Psycho:
>man, advertisements are so soulless. It's a guy with a mask but there's nothing underneath
>what if a person was an advertisement?
>he'd be a psychopath
>and he'd talk like a commercial
>and he'd primarily kill women who are suckers for commercials
>if he had a girlfriend he couldn't kill because she wasn't particularly impressed by him but he can jack off to Calvin Klein ads because they are soulless like him
>what if he became self-aware and desperately wanted redemption?
>would anyone care?
And so on and so forth. Don't leave your story at 10k. Keep running and your story will fill out.

Best wishes. I remember you posting it before, but I don't think I read any. Are you starting another project?

What are you writers reading lately?
I started "Look Homeward, Angel" and can already tell it's a masterpiece. Do people read this as much these days because it inspired a ton of Americans writers in the early 20th century.

>Better off rewriting chapter 1 five time
After rewriting chapter 1 several times I actually butchered it and inserted its lines through out the novel in italics that can be pieced together. I had to do it. The first chapter is just too different (reads like a thriller when the rest is literary) and I tried to move it to a later section but I really don't like flashbacks and readers had a lot of frustration with the jarring change of tone.
I found it frustrating because people kept asking me to show the precipitating event and then feel awkward when I did. So instead I will just leave it as some forgotten nightmare that is only alluded to.

>>but fuck it, i'll continue eating it anyways while complaining inbetween each bite to tell all the other patrons that enjoy eating steak that they have shit taste!
Yes. When you eat something that tastes objectively like shit, it's shit. You can't just eat shit and say, "well, in my subjective opinion this cuisine is not the best for my tongue; although some cultures probably eat shit and think this is a phenomenal, nutritious meal, thus I cannot say they lack taste or that shit is bad because cuisine is indeed subjective"

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know that about upper and lower ads. I agree with the sentiment on humility, and it's one of the reasons I'm employing more high wit than low wit in my writing.
I'd love to write an "incel novel" too but capturing the idiosyncrasies with wit is going to be tough. I've heard of some very sensitive authors get dragged through the mud over much smaller.

I would edit a book of my friend for free, just because we are friends. To him it's important, to me it's practice and doing something good for my buddy.

Definitely sounds like this was written by a chick lmao. You're calling me an idiot based on an assumption held by the overwhelming majority; in that case, wouldn't I be merely a victim of cultural osmosis looking to reverse my ignorance? Anywho, can you provide a (non-freudian or psychotic hack crit-theory) elaborating on this?

Feels good living in eastern Europe.
>nobody cares about agents, you send shit to random publishers
>everyone sucks, if you read and are not retarded you will get published anyway
>60% novels are fantasy, 25% detective shit, 10% romance, 5% the rest
It's all so easy bros.
