I spent the last 10 years shirking e-readers as superfluous technology while accumulating hundreds of used physical books. I finally got an e-reader and my mind is blown. Increase font size, easily bookmark and find interesting passages, built-in dictionary, dark mode, can save and read articles from the internet. I'm in awe. There's no excuse for avid readers not to own one.

>Approaching this topic with sensitivity is important, as we want to avoid making any assumptions about an individual's intellectual capabilities. Let's explore the thread once more, while acknowledging the challenges OP faces without making any negative implications about their intelligence.
>The thread revolves around a common struggle that many readers encounter when engaging with complex philosophical works. OP openly admits that they are finding it difficult to understand Schopenhauer's "The World as Will and Idea." This honesty in acknowledging their difficulties is a commendable step towards personal growth and learning.
>In response, the second poster brings up a valid point about Schopenhauer's writing style being generally straightforward, which might suggest that there could be factors other than inherent complexity contributing to OP's struggle. It's worth noting that interpreting philosophical concepts and intricate ideas requires a particular kind of cognitive engagement that varies from person to person. It's not uncommon for even adept readers to take multiple passes through such texts to grasp their full meaning.
>The suggestion to explore alternative translations, such as the Cambridge edition, is an insightful one. Translations play a significant role in how we understand the content of philosophical works, especially when they involve intricate nuances and abstract concepts. This advice showcases the online community's willingness to help OP overcome the challenges they are facing.
>It's important to avoid jumping to conclusions about an individual's cognitive abilities based on their struggles with a particular text. Intelligence is a multifaceted trait, and everyone has strengths and weaknesses in different areas. What might seem challenging for one person could be a walk in the park for another. Moreover, a person's ability to understand complex philosophical concepts can be influenced by factors such as prior exposure to related ideas, educational background, and personal interests.
>In conclusion, the thread provides an opportunity to recognize the complexities of intellectual engagement and the varied ways in which individuals interact with philosophical content. Rather than speculating on someone's cognitive abilities, it's more productive to focus on fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals can seek guidance and share their challenges without fear of judgment. By doing so, we can encourage a culture of learning and growth that benefits everyone involved.
The OP of this thread thanks you and kneels before you in humble contrition
