so I'm German and I usually read English literature in English for obvious reasons
but in which language do you guys read stuff that's neither written in your mother tongue nor in English?
on the one hand I want to improve my German skills too (if I ever write a book it'll be in German), so that it would be useful to read more than just German authors in German, but on the other hand I don't know how well translations into other languages compare to the English translations (e.g. I read somewhere that the English translation of Murakami is much better than the German one)
so what would you do in that situation? I'm always postponing to read some Lem, Tolstoy etc because I can't decide...

A good poet is a miserable one.
Musicians are emotional manipulators.
Newton's laws are as firm in the physical as they are in the realm of Will.
There is good and bad stress. The good invigorates, the bad atrophies.
Good and bad are two halves of a wheel.

I think the point is the book takes an effort in being polemic.
