I have a hard time interacting with the world in a genuine, non-ironic way. It's easier to ensconce myself on a meta level where I can look down and judge without participating in the human experience fully.
For example, I recently went on a vacation. I tried not to take too many pictures and didn't post many of them, because I kept telling myself how pointless it is to take the same pictures that thousands of other people take and to fill up social media with more unnecessary junk.
I do believe this is true, but at the same time it doesn't seem conducive to happiness, and it extends to things like creative expression as well. It's hard to dedicate myself to a craft; it involves opening up to vulnerability and emotions that feel foolish to express because I know they aren't really important or unique.
I probably haven't really stated my point clearly, but does it resonate with any of you? What/who should I read in this vein?

Writing sonnets instead of simply stating your feelings is a suboptimal means of communication.
