Shakespeare is still being read about 400 years after his writings. I think that means he is pretty important to the field of literature.

This is my first time on /lit/, I'm here because I think this is the place to go for writing advice, yes?

I'm writing a short story, and I need to know: if a character is from South America, would I describe their speaking as being with a Spanish accent, or a South American accent?

Honestly TyBrax i've read your friends and you do show several signs of differnet mental illness'. I am inclined to believe that you are actually taking medication from your problems, stemming from your personal life and obviously quite terrible upbringing.

However, from personal experience i know that someone in your position is not proud of their position, they do not exclaim it across the internet and rather tell it to thsoe closest to them,

You may think of yourself as socially retarded but i'm sure you're not, if you went to a park in the summer you could happily start a conversation with someone, or even in a library if books are really your thing. You seem to have such distaste with every one else's actions as you deem them to be wrong or confomrist, when someone who truly thought that would let someone do what they wanted. Not complain about it on the internet.

There are people who care about you in the world.
People will miss you if you were gone.
The best way to get back at someone from your past is to make yourself better than them in their eyes. You're going to University, a fantastic achievement as more than half the world cannot even read. If your life was truly as terrible as you make out you would no longer be living with your parents. Believe me. I know.

And if by chance you do actually have a terrible life and it has gone unnoticed by the social services you need to book yourself an appointment with childrens charity Bernardos. They have trained counsellors and young people who are there for you to talk to, they're not asking you to spill your guts, they're not going to dig through your past, but they'll be able to offer you advice and give you things that will help you.

If you're on medication talk through any problems or concerns you may have with your doctor. Keep a diary of how you feel throughout the day. from 9am 12pm 3pm 6pm 9pm
do this every day and show it to your doctor/counsellor.
