I don't remember why I picked it up, probably found the audiobook torrent on audiobookbay or something. The insane AI was the rogue AI Penny Royal.
I will probably pick up the rest of the series later, because the book seemed fun and interesting enough, even though another sci-fi universe seems like a big investment. Currently reading A Darker Shade of Magic and I still have BotNS and 3 halfway-through books to eventually finish.

Have you read the Revelation Space books? How does it compare to the Polity?
