Are there any good books about the "Cold War mentality"?

Getting real tired of the media where I live pushing the "Russia/Putin are public enemies #1!" rhetoric. I want to know why they're doing it though, preferably with historical analysis.

What possible benefit is there to this "good and evil" mentality? Why is it not in our interests to have a good relationship with Russia?
