Would a publisher/author give a shit if I contacted them to correct verifiably false information in their non-fiction book?
A book I'm reading makes an assertion based on a false premise. The author misattributed a historical event to someone who had nothing to do with it. It's a common misattribution about the event, but seeing it in a published book from a prestigious publisher annoyed me so much that I had to pause reading.
He got other details right, which means he researched the event. It seems dishonest that he ignored verifiable facts to make an assertion to suit the message of the book.
