it's an amazing book. Every passage consists of Arthur doing the things that Waldun does, and the secondary characters exaggeratedly praise him. This pic is from the passage where Mr. Morton tells Arthur that he's dying. He has kept all of Arthur's typewritten writings from high school but bequeaths them back to Arthur. He is so sad that he won't be able to read Arthur's writings when he's dead, that he weeps all over the papers.

btw when Mr. Morton finally does die, his niece Gretel sends Arthur a letter informing him of his death, but that message only takes up 5% of her letter. The rest of it is her telling how great Arthur's taste in literature is, won't he please teach her how to write, she's going to paint a picture of their first meeting because she was so inspired by him, she loves his essays, please write more essays
