/lit/ is boring right now so I'm going to make an interesting and quality thread.

What are some of the greatest early/medieval works of literature you have read and would recommend?

I'm finishing up Njal's Saga and I'm enthralled by it. Seriously top 5-10 works of literature I have ever read.

Are the other Icelandic sagas worth looking into?

What is your favourite piece of Old Norse poetry, /lit/?

Are Norse Sagas and Scandinavian literature decently translated into English? /lit/ always meme about how translations are never as good as the original, but Scandinavian languages are very close to English. I read Beowulf and it was really well structured in modern English. Although Beowulf's "Ænglisc" isn't Scandinavian, it is as close as you can get. Can I expect the same from the Norse/Scandinavian?
