Yes, there's a lot of explanatory material, several books of apocrypha, and related scholarly analysis. Well worth the free download. And my copy is only 2,440 pages. That's 3x the length of picrel...which I've also read. Now get cracking!

I recently finished reading "Understanding World Religions: An Interdisciplinary Approach" by Irving Hexham, published in 2011.
It's well over 800 pages, but covers Aftrican, Eastern, and Indian religious traditions, as well as the expected Abramic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam).
