>one chance at being born
>born in this shit world in this shit universe
>not born in Middle-Earth as a hobbit going on dashing adventures, saving the world, or just staying extremely comfy in The Shire
I must've done something wrong in a past life for me to be born here.

>I just saw all the movies and I wanted to read the books, in what order do I read them?
The Hobbit, then stop because it gets dumb afterwards. The simple fairytale open worldness of The Hobbit and it being 300 pages long is way better than it's meandering sequel that's 80% worldbuilding, 20% story, and is 1300 pages long. The publishers wanted a sequel to The Hobbit and it feels forced from Tolkien. The Silmarillion is even worse, you might as well just open a real history book and read that, you'll gain more value.
Also Gandalf as an eccentric old wandering magician is so much more intriguing than an angel come to help mankind against the dark lord and blah blah blah blah blah.

>"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."
Immediately sets the mood for comfy. Especially Gandalf visiting Bilbo at his house and the dwarves enter into Bilbo's house. The entire first chapter is awesome and comfy really.

Lord of the Rings is alright, I think the whole thing is vastly overrated compared to The Hobbit however. The Hobbit was the only good book that Tolkien had written.

>Lord of the Rings is the most uninspired, boring, walking simulator of all time.
That's why you read The Hobbit and stop there, my incredibly retarded fren.

Lol no. I swear people who say this have never read the books at all or are just speedreaders. Watching the movies after reading the books just makes you realise that movies are an inferior artform to books.
I really wish TV/film was half the medium people think it is. You just can’t make anything deep with it, you just can't.
