How do I keep momentum for writing a long-term story?

I'll get a really great concept in my head, and write most of it down. I'll lay down the themes I want to explore, the basic events of the story and characters, etc. I love worldbuilding in terms of that. When it comes to writing the actual story though I struggle to maintain my interest and passion for more than a few pages/short story's worth. It's not like writer's block so much as becoming too bored with the ebb and flow of how I'm writing too quickly. Anything that helps with this?

Hello, /lit/.

I want to cultivate an appreciation for literature and become a better writer. Having lurked, it appears the correct route is to begin with the Greeks and work forward through the cannon to contemporary literature. In this way, one contextualises each work whilst simultaneously furthering one's enjoyment.

My only concern is that beginning with the Greeks will be too heavy for my retarded mind. I will grit my teeth and just power through.

Thanks. :^)
