We don't have as much control of our lives as we think we do. Almost every aspect of who you are is based on how you've been raised, and you don't get to decide how you want to be raised.

If I really tried and put my mind to it I can be and do anything. But I’m too lazy and end up shitposting on 4chan instead.

I just finished reading the Communist Manifesto. Why do people hate Marx, again? He seems pretty reasonable

Where do Americans get the idea that socialism = more taxes and regulations? Socialism is about workers seizing the means of production (i.e. all factories are owned by factory workers, all farms are owned by farmers, etc instead of separate private entities). It has literally nothing to do with taxes. If socialism = taxes, government intervention, redistribution of wealth, publicly funded services, etc. then literally all countries on the planet, including America, are socialist.

We spend 1/3 of our lives working and 1/3 of our lives sleeping. The 1/3 we spend working is primarily to keep us financially stable so we can stay alive so we can continue working, and to save money so we don't have to work when we're old and senile and too frail to enjoy economic freedom. What's the point of it all?

I'll be honest I don't read much.
But I want to read/listen to some books before I die.
I listened to The Catcher in the Rye and really liked it, loved it in fact, I didnt know reading could be this fun.
So I decided to read/listen to some more books/audibooks.

>search must read books before you die
>get shit like, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Lord of The Rings, I can understand why Alice in Wonderland and The Bible are on there but I don't want to waste my time reading Harry Potter or Game of Thrones.
This is from the BBC 100 books to read before you die.
1. Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
2. The Lord of the Rings – JRR Tolkien
3. Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
4. Harry Potter series – JK Rowling
5. To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee

can I get some recommendations of books to read before I die?
Yes I checked the Sticky, waay too many recommendations I dont know whats good.
thanks.
also please tell me what the book is about in a short sentence thanks ;)
