Worldbuilding isn’t just restricted to fantasy, so I have no idea why anons are implying it’s that. Infinite Jest, for example, has many aspects of autistic worldbuilding. It is arguably a sci fi satire of American society too, yet it is lauded by many when someone like Vonnegut did it in the 50s in a more digestible style. Fantasy is like any other genre but it has become uniform and cringey with tropes
