Mason & Dixon. I hated the book at first but by the end god damn...

Well, now that the dust has settled I hope we can all agree this is thomas pynchon's finest novel. GR is overrated.

Mason and Dixon has to take a nosedive hard for it to not end up my favorite book. Im on page 100 and I'm dreading the day I wint be able to come home and read a few pages.

What are some other classic books that are this engaging?

I just started this, and I got to chapter 3. Im surprised at just how wholesome this book is. Chapter 2 was a fantastic two pages and really sets the groundworj for what I can already tell is going to be a strong friendship between two weirdos.

What do you think of this book's first few chapters? What are some other wholesome, emotional books? What the frick is up with this english speaking dog?

i finished thomas pynchons mason and dixon today. i previously finished V. while i understood the major themes and nature of V. better i had a harder time piecing together the various themes and stories in mason and dixon. what do people here think of mason and dixon many say it is Pynchon best work

I started it a little while ago because of how fondly I remember Gravity's Rainbow with its abrupt leaps and plot confetti that created a wonderfully paranoid tone.

300 pages into the novel and it seems like the plot just meanders between public houses without bothering to stick to any semblance of theme, like a lazy, diluted version of Pynchon's earlier style adapted to a more conventional, linear form.

It feels like I'm wasting my time reading an inferior remake of a novel I've already read.

Am I the only one who feels this way ?
