great retort, you seem to have grown a lot with all that consumption of media that people tell you you should watch.
also, while that might be true I'm hotter than that girl.

I'm sort of sad that all his latest stuff seems to be really mindless yakuza fun, which is cool but I wish we could have someone doing what he was doing before. I get the same feeling whenever Sion Sono does some light comedy a la Why Don't You Play in Hell.

We live in societies completely dependant on technology where less than 1% of the population can code, we are functionaly iliterate and dependant on whatever others say. It's important to learn to code from an early age.

History is fine but most HS courses don't really teach shit, they just make you memorize dates for the exam. If they were cutting off some great course that makes you understand how and why things happened and the way the world changed it would be a shame, but I doubt they're loosing anything.

(also implied jokes about Australia having no history)

the justification of beauty is a spook, in the sense that it's tied to the present understanding and general structures, but on a bigger level your body reacts to beauty before you can understand way so you could say it's part of the human experience.

that's your thesis, the real one, and I'd like to see you defend it in any way. maybe with some evidence even.

It was the same with the irish in the american civil war, the scottish in ww1, the sikhs in the whole indian ocupation, the blacks in latin america, and every other minority you want to convince it's their duty to die for the majority.

There's no duty from Turkey to respond to promises made during the occupation of their country (even though I do understand that democracy is a pretty new concept among them).
>should we condem them for the implications of what they want
Well, yes. Of course. If the conditions change you change your demands. You can't pretend to still not know that you're demanding a huge chunk of the money of a country and the key to that country's presidency. I'm not saying they don't deserve land of their own if they can occupy and use it, but that doesn't mean taking it away from others. 300 years ago the middle east barely had borders outisde the empires and at worst you had to pay taxes for not being muslim. This idea of a region of land for each group of people is less than a hundred years old.

Korea was trying to have literate plebs in the 1400's, in the long run it's just more efficient for the government.

Change would had happened ne way or another. The Enlightenment had a weird focus on reason while not so much on science. There were more than a hundred years when doctors didn't wash their hands because superior beings with reason can't be contaminated by external pollutants and silly hit like that.

I'm sure there were competing ideas at the time, I hope some anon knows some potential revolutions we didn't have.

>on the political level, we are not at all better than the Greeks.
what?
first, our political system has nothing to do with original democracy. we don't have requirements to vote, we don't have direct political pressence, not even forum destined to that. Greeks never had to deal with corporate lobbying and maximization of profits.

>atheism with the same issues than religion
well, yeah, just because there was a boom of justifying shit with your head instead of your soul doesn't mean people are born without magical thinking.

My english is more than enough to fluently read most non-specialized authors, and even with the particular case I'm checking the dictionary just as much as most native readers would since you'll never know every single word refered to a specific topic.

Or are you saying that you've never read a book that made you look words up? Are you happy with reading under HS levels?

I like his more minimal prose and how he chooses to structure his stories. Some of his work hasn't aged that well and reads like proposals for tv dramas, but most of his work is pretty dope.
